Acupuncture is a technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been practiced for more than 2500 years.
From the western biomedical perspective, it involves stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles. This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins.
From the eastern perspective, traditional Chinese acupuncture is based on the belief that our energy flows through the body in channels called meridians. This energy is known as Qi. When Qi does not flow freely through the body, this can cause illness. With acupuncture we can restore the flow of Qi, eliminating stagnations and re-establishing health.
I offer an integrated approach in my practice, based on the best of both points of view. Integrative medicine allows for conventional and traditional practices to be combined in order to provide the best care for patients, using an ancient technique with modern practice.
