Qigong

What is Qigong? Qigong originated in China about 4,000 years ago. It is an ancient exercise and healing technique that involves controlled breathing, meditation, and movement exercises.

Similar to acupuncture, Tuina, and so many other forms of Eastern energy work, the goal of Qigong is to cultivate, balance and stimulate the flow of Qi (the body’s vital energy) throughout the body.

Medical Qigong & Qi Emission

Medical Qigong is one of the oldest branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), using breath-work, movement, and meditation to cultivate and balance Qi. Also known as Wai Qi Liao Fa, Dao Yin or Qi emission, it's rooted in the same principles as acupuncture and herbal medicine, and is designed to harmonize the body, mind, and spirit to support healing and overall well-being.

Qi Emission is a specialized practice where a trained practitioner directs their cultivated Qi to a patient to promote energetic balance and healing. Unlike acupuncture, which uses needles to influence energy flow, Qi Emission is a non-invasive technique that works through intention, breath, and hand movements to clear blockages, restore vitality, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes.

What can be treated with Medical Qigong?

Qigong is a core branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which means Medical Qigong can address many of the same conditions as acupuncture. It can be used on its own or in combination with acupuncture to enhance and deepen the effects of the needles. Medical Qigong is used to support healing in a wide range of issues, including:

  • Chronic pain and fatigue

  • Digestive disorders

  • Neurological diseases

  • Recovery from illness or injury

  • Immune system support

  • Stress, anxiety, and emotional imbalances

  • Women health and sexual disfunction

  • Cancer support

Medical Qigong promotes the flow of qi and blood, clears the meridians, and activates inner strength. This method supports the body’s natural ability to regulate and heal itself, enhancing circulation and energy in affected areas.

How does a session work?

During the Qi therapy you will just relax and let the practitioner guide the energy through your body. You may feel some gentle involuntary movements, stillness, and spontaneous responses from the treatment but it’s all part of the body’s way of recalibrating.

What are the fees for Qi therapy?

Qi emission is done only by a trained practitioner, who projects their own cultivated Qi to support someone else’s healing. It's a specialized technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine and at Twelvem Acupuncture is only offered by Jocelito Camargo. There is no extra cost when performed during your acupuncture session. However, if you are interested in experiencing only the Qi session, the fee is $260, up to 1 hour.

Please, contact by e-mail at jocelito@twelvem.ca before booking your session. It might not be covered by your insurance.
